TriaVision Certificate of Need Approved for New Eye Surgery Center to Advance Vision Care in Jefferson County
A Certificate of Need has been issued to TriaVision, through their sub-company Colonnade Surgical Partners, LLC, authorizing the development and operation of a single-specialty ambulatory surgery center (ASC) dedicated to eye health in Jefferson County. The certificate, effective May 16, 2025, was granted by the State Health Planning and Development Agency.
The new ASC will be located in the Colonnade and will feature two operating rooms. This facility is being developed in response to a growing demand for high-quality, efficient, and patient-centered surgical eye care across central Alabama.
“As the U.S. healthcare system continues to evolve, the future of vision care will be defined by access, quality outcomes, business efficiencies, and patient satisfaction,” said Dr. Virginia Lolley, ophthalmologist at TriaVision. “Ambulatory surgery centers allow us to deliver the highest quality care in a fraction of the time and at a lower cost to the patient. This is about ensuring Alabamians have access to world-class eye care, right here at home.”
The project represents a commitment to medical autonomy and innovation, empowering physician-led organizations like TriaVision to drive improvements in patient care delivery. By investing in outpatient infrastructure, the new ASC is expected to enhance surgical access for patients while reducing the overall cost burden on families and the healthcare system.
The project was met with overwhelming support from the eye care community, with multiple letters of endorsement written by area eye care providers encouraging the state to approve the project. TriaVision looks forward to serving the Birmingham and central Alabama communities at its new ASC beginning early 2026.
